Buying Gloves by the Case: Cost, Size Mix and Reorder Planning
Calculate cost per glove, compare box and case counts, and build a reorder plan by size with worked examples and direct shopping links.

Compare individual gloves before comparing cases
A case can contain 1,000, 2,000 or 10,000 gloves. Some reusable products are sold by the pair, and oven mitts may be sold individually. The first step in a useful price comparison is converting the offer into the unit your operation uses.
Cost per glove = delivered purchase cost ÷ individual gloves received. Delivered cost should include the shipping and fees that apply to the order, after the discounts actually earned. Compare equivalent tax treatment. For two-glove use, multiply the per-glove cost by two.
Worked price examples
These are calculation examples using selected catalog prices checked September 12, 2026, before shipping, tax or quantity discounts. They are not permanent price quotes; open the linked product for current terms.
| Selected example | Example case price / count | Cost per glove |
|---|---|---|
| Blue soft nitrile | $44.99 / 1,000 | $0.04499 (about 4.50¢) |
| Black soft nitrile | $49.99 / 1,000 | $0.04999 (about 5.00¢) |
| Orange 8 mil nitrile | $79.99 / 1,000 | $0.07999 (about 8.00¢) |
| Large TPE | $29.99 / 2,000 | $0.014995 (about 1.50¢) |
| Large clear poly | $49.99 / 10,000 | $0.004999 (about 0.50¢) |
These styles are not equivalent protection. Decide which glove is suitable first; then compare the economics of suitable candidates. The material guide helps narrow that choice.
Estimate consumption by size
Use actual glove consumption when you have it. For a starting planning example: 8 workers × 12 two-glove changes per worker × 2 gloves × 6 operating days = 1,152 gloves per week. The assumed change count is for arithmetic only; actual changes follow tasks and your operating procedure.
At that usage, a 1,000-glove case represents about 0.87 operating weeks. The same total divided across multiple sizes may leave one size empty long before the rest. Track each size separately.
| Example size mix | Share | Approximate weekly gloves |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 10% | 115 |
| Medium | 35% | 403 |
| Large | 40% | 461 |
| X-large | 15% | 173 |
Replace this illustrative mix with your team’s consumption. Do not order equal quantities of every size merely because the case sizes are equal.
Set a reorder point you can use every week
Reorder point = daily usage × replenishment lead time in days + safety stock. Use operating or calendar days consistently with how you measure demand and delivery.
Example for one size: 120 gloves per operating day × 3 operating days of lead time + 360 gloves of safety stock = a 720-glove reorder point. Count usable stock plus confirmed inbound supply minus committed demand when reviewing the inventory position. Review expected delivery dates before relying on an inbound order.
Track material, SKU, size, gloves per box, boxes on hand, average usage and reorder point in your purchasing list. Update it after staffing changes, busy seasons or a new service station.
Reduce waste without delaying required changes
Separate normal task-driven consumption from avoidable losses: torn gloves during donning, dropped boxes, an unusable size or an unsuitable style. A better fit can improve the economics without changing hygiene rules.
Check current quantity discounts on the product page, and confirm shipping eligibility under shipping and delivery terms. Do not assume every glove or every destination has the same offer. Purchase enough to cover demand and sensible backup stock within storage and product shelf-life limits.
